Total e-commerce solutions for SMIs and SMEs launched

PTPL & Associates Sdn Bhd, an institute of higher learning, and information technology-based Wisegate Sdn Bhd 22 May 2002 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly provide a cutting edge business programme, Total F-Commerce Solutions (TECS), target­ed at small and medium scale indus­tries and entrepreneurs (SMIs and SMEs).

Under the MoU, PTPL will pro­vide training for SMEs and SMIs while Wisegate will install the hardware and software systems.The TECS, which is endorsed by Microsoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd and the International E-Commerce Consul­tants Council, will enable SMIs and SMEs to initiate their businesses via the Internet or upgrade their exist­ing e-commerce operations.

Wisegate executive director Chew Kian Seng said at the signing ceremony in Shah Alam that TECS empowered SMIs and SMEs with a strategic business tool to expand the market on an international scale.

The TECS can be customised to business operation such as direct selling, franchising, retailing, manufacturing, distributing and logistics.

Chew said that the goals of the TECS would be to secure a strong customer base and ease the process of market expansion.

PTPL & Associates president Pro­fessor Mohd Shukri Abdul Yajid said the usage of e-commerce among SMIs and SMEs was still low in Malaysia.
